Dr Oliver G Kayas is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Business at Liverpool Business School. He is President of the UK Academy for Information Systems, Associate Editor of Surveillance & Society, the field’s leading journal, and a Board Member of the Surveillance Studies Network. His work sits at the intersection of digital business, information systems, surveillance studies, and the critical study of digital systems in organisational settings.

Oliver is an established scholar whose primary area of research focuses on digitally mediated workplace surveillance and the social, ethical, and organisational consequences of data-driven technologies at work. His research examines how digital systems reshape work, management, and contemporary organisations, with particular attention to surveillance, visibility, transparency, resistance, employee experiences, and the governance of data-driven systems.

Oliver has produced over 50 research outputs, with his work contributing to debates on digital workplace surveillance, algorithmic surveillance, organisational visibility, digital ethics, privacy, trust, resistance, and the organisational consequences of emerging technologies. He has also contributed to funded research and knowledge exchange projects, and has provided expert evidence to the House of Lords on the societal implications of digital technologies.

Prior to entering academia, Oliver worked in consultancy and IT-related roles across a range of sectors, experience that continues to inform his applied and critical approach to teaching, research, knowledge exchange, and external engagement.
